February’s regular meeting minutes and February’s special meeting minutes were accepted as submitted except that the Stevenson Easement should be the Stevens Easement wherever it appears.

New Business - Agenda Items

1. Website – Conservation page. What should be on it? Let’s think about it. Ideas: Link to NRI, get linked to NHACC, accomplishments (Pennoyer easement), regulations. E-mail more ideas to Karen. Other ideas: an introduction. Suggestion: look at others’ to see what they have. What problems can we address?

2. Backyard Composting – the Earth Machine sale - NRRA gives deals, we can sell them as promotional items for $30-35 and make $5 each - there’s a 20 unit minimum order.

New Business - Other

Neal will review the info on the Lake Host Program and begin filling out the paperwork - the deadline for submission is April 1st.

Old Business - Agenda Items

1. Earth Day Event - how to get the word out? Ideas: poster at the dump; blue bags - mail two to everyone in town - one for trash, one for recyclables.  Approximately 650 households @ $.25 = $162.50 with insert and envelopes - cost? Other ideas: hold assembly at the elementary school (Karen to contact Timothy Iwanowicz, Principal); put it on the town website; put it in the paper. Firemen help with pickup of trash? We want roadside refuse only, but if we even mention it, some folks might get the idea of cleaning out their garages. Emphasize pride in our town! Prizes for the kids: contribution to outing fund. Send notes home with the kids to the parents - bring your pickup truck! Per-kid-participation $ amount contribution to their outing fund. We will separate and clean the recyclables at the dump. Neal will contact John Hopkins about the participation of other two road sponsorships. There are blue bags at the state highway shed. At the dump, put a sign pointing to a designated area. Prize for guessing number of bags collected?  Raffle off a composter.  Free door prize ticket for participants presented at the ham and bean supper. Put the ticket stub in the flyer-mailing? Possible prizes/sponsors: 1) earth machine, 2) $25 gift certificate to Yankee Farmer, 3) $25 gift certificate to Winrose Farm. Put “Sponsored By” in the flyer. School signup sheet, $2 toward outing fund for each participant, $5 if a parent brings a truck?

2. Aquifer Protection District project - we will have Paul Susca from the DW program come and tale to us - in May? The two best targeted areas are the ones in town and the one on East Rd.

3. Any other business brought forward by members or attendees: Janet has been sworn in by Fran. Open Space: Janet to contact Dijit Taylor from the Forest Society about Dollars and Sense; set up a meeting with the Planning Board. Other idea - pull down info from the Cooperative Extension about Community Outlook (Janet). We need a Cost of Services study - costs about $30K - can we get a grant?

4. Mail of importance - none.
